Almeda A. Engle, 92, of Austin, died on Aug. 4, 2009 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home in Austin.
She was born Sept. 12, 1916, the fifth of 17 children, in Fillmore County, Minn., to Casper and Cora (Wead) Bremseth. On Nov. 28, 1936, in Decorah, Iowa, she married Anona “Art” Engle who preceded her in death in 1977. Almeda had lived in Austin since 1946 and was self employed as an upholsterer for 40 years. Since October 2002, she had been a resident of St. Mark’s Lutheran Home and has been a member of the Church of Christ since December 1941.
Almeda is survived by her daughter, Nadine “Dee” (Alan) Monson, Belvidere, Ill.; grandchildren, Robert (Margaret) Monson, Belvidere, Jeffrey (Kim) Monson, Roscoe, Ill., William Monson, Denver, Colo., Daryl Monson, Belvidere, Laura (Steve)  Zahradnik, Rose Creek, Minn., Vanessa (Billy) Langham, Montevallo, Ala.; four great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 17 step great-grandchildren; 12 step great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Freda Lobland, Rochester, Minn., Martha Vrogan, Stewartville, Minn., Deloris Gardner, Poplar Grove, Ill.; Eva (Clayton) Sorenson, Austin; Luella Tufte, Rockford, Ill., Ovedia Bakken, Wykoff, Minn.; brothers, Kenneth Bremseth, Hayfield, Minn., Richard Bremseth, Rochester, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Art; son, Howard; stepsons, Raymond and Stewert Engle; siblings, Orletha Bacon, Viola Bacon, Leila Tienter, LaVonne Spurgeon, Ralph, Dale, Stanley and Vernon Bremseth.
The family wishes to thank our special friend, Robert Wolf, who helped her so faithfully the last years in her home as well as her cousin, Fred Paulson, for his unending devotion during her time at St. Mark’s. May God add many stars to their crowns. A special “thanks” also to the staff at St. Mark’s for her excellent care and their help to her family. 
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009 at Church of Christ with Pastor Stephen DeFor officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. and for one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.
Casket bearers will be Robert Monson, Jeffrey Monson, William Monson, Daryl Monson, Steve Zahradnik, Bryce Zahradnik and Michael Monson.
