Tommy J. Tapager, 76
Tommy J. Tapager, 76, of Austin, passed away at his home on July 8, 2009.
Tommy was born Dec. 10, 1932 to Geraldine (Klein) and Roy Tapager in Mason City, Iowa. Tommy served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to1955 stationed in Germany. In Dec. of 1952, he married Eileen Stahl and they later divorced. He married Gail Igou-Hoffman. He was active in the American Legion, Post 91 serving as post commander and adjutant. He was a member of the American Legion Funeral Escort. He delivered Meals on Wheels to shut-ins and was an avid golfer and bowler.
Tommy is survived by his children, Pam Hall, Austin, Larry (Kim) Tapager, Ellsworth, Wis. and John Tapager, Austin; grandchildren, Ryanne Underhill, Minneapolis, Minn., Whitney Underhill, Austin; sister, Barbara Weinmann, Austin; nieces and nephews; aunts, Mary (Richard) Mott and Joanne McChesney both of Clear Lake, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by infant twin sons, his parents and his wife, Gail. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 13, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin, with Father John Traufler officiating. Erin Schumacher will be the soloist and Shirley Cahill will be the organist.Visitation will be at the church for one hour before the service on Monday. Austin Post #91 American Legion  in charge of military rites. Memorials are preferred. Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
