Ronald W. Macal, age 69
Ronald Walter Macal, 69, of Austin, died peacefully and suddenly on July 7, 2009 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. 
He was born Oct. 28, 1939 to Walter and Mary (Rayman) Macal in Austin. He graduated from Rose Creek High School in 1957. On June 10, 1961, he married Jan Fennell in Austin. Ron was employed by Corporate Graphics until his retirement in 2003. An active member of First Congregational Church, UCC in Austin, he loved his family. He was an avid sports fan, especially high school and college games. Fishing was his greatest passion, and he relished every minute spent up north in Nisswa, where he and Jan kept their trailer. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Jan, Austin; children, Robyn (Kevin) Iversen, Byron, Scott Macal, Austin, Heather (Tracy) Schmit, Austin; sisters, Patricia Berg, Austin, Debra (Robert) Kos, Prior Lake; brother, Gary (Debora) Macal, Ellendale; five grandchildren, Jacob, Amber, Hannah, Nick and Samantha; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Walter Macal and brother-in-law, Herbert Berg.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 10, 2009 at First Congregational Church, UCC in Austin with the Reverend Lev Reynolds officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at church. Interment is at Oakwood Cemetery in Austin. Worlein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
