Raymond Iten, 45
Raymond Joseph Iten, 45, died unexpectedly Saturday at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Raymond was born on Father’s Day, June 21, 1964 to Don and Carole (Sutton) Iten in the Balboa Naval Hospital, San Diego. Raymond lived most of his earlier life in Becker, Minn. He graduated from Becker High School in 1982 and later received a diploma from Alexandria Technical College as an Electrical Technician. For the last few years Raymond was self-employed.
While in school, Raymond was very active in football, wrestling, FFA, choir and drama; he was also a member of the Kragero Kangaroo 4-H Club. Raymond was a member of several Lions Clubs, depending upon whatever community he was currently residing. He enjoyed volunteering his time and talents where needed most recently at the Sherburne County Fair.
Raymond married Malla Berg of Austin on Sept. 18, 1999 and the couple made their home in Austin. The highlight of their union together was the adoption of their precious, beloved sons, Maurice and Parker, on Dec. 24, 2004.
Raymond will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He had a fun-loving, goofy sense of humor, which endeared him to everyone. He was an unforgettable kind of guy who loved to do or say the unexpected just to get a laugh.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Malla; son, Parker; parents, Don and Carole Iten, Becker; sisters, Lori Sowers, Becker and Liza (Lewis) Johnson, Fort Drum, N.Y.; father-in-law, Dick Berg, Austin; brothers-in-law, Philip (Lori) Berg and George (Melissa) Berg; goddaughters, Tina Iten and Dawn Johnson; many nieces and nephews; great-nephews and niece; and his best friends, Greg and Renee Kolbinger.
He is preceded in death by his son, Maurice; mother-in-law, Doris Berg; grandparents: Leon and Florentine Iten, Irma Sutton, Willard Sutton and Larry Whittington.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at St. Marcus Catholic Church in Clear Lake, Minn. The Rev. Virgil Helmin will officiate. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at the church in Clear Lake and one hour prior to services. Parish prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
