Loren R. Monson, 87
Loren Monson died on July 9, 2009 after a brief battle with Leukemia at Austin Medical Center.
Loren Robert Monson was born Sept. 27, 1931 near Taopi, Minn. to Carl and Elva (Erickson) Monson. He married Louise Katherine (Hueman) on June 16, 1956 at Sacred Heart Church in Adams. Loren was a Paratrooper and Sergeant of the 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. Loren was employed at IBM in Rochester, Minn. for 30 years, from 1961 to 1991, as a technician supervising the plastic injection molding department. Loren always enjoyed the outdoors and animals. He trained black and chocolate lab hunting dogs. We don’t know where he went wrong with training their loyal house dog, Toby. He loved to fish and hunt waterfowl and trap furbearers. He was especially helpful to many farmer friends, removing their nuisance beaver and pocket gophers. Some of his favorite past times were driving around the country side with his loyal companion Toby, observing wildlife and the local farmland. He also enjoyed watching old western movies and woodcarving wildlife and decoys.
