Josephine H. Jones, 85, of Albert Lea, died on July 2, 2009 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Josephine H. Jones was born on Jan. 18, 1924 to Theodore and Jane (Noble) Helleck in Austin. She grew up in rural Blooming Prairie and was a member of the Red Oak Grove Church. Josephine graduated from Blooming Prairie High School. After high school she attended Austin Jr. College. On June 22, 1946, she was united in marriage to Dale Jones in Seattle, Wash. where they lived for two years. The couple then returned to the Albert Lea area where they made their home. Josephine was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. She and Dale enjoyed spending winters in Arizona after his retirement.
Survivors include her children, Gail (Ron) Rhea, Byhalia, Miss., Carol (Ernie) Schultz, Alden, Jeff (Donna) Jones, Chaska, Marge (Bill) Entorf, Albert Lea, Michael (Cindy) Jones, Brownsdale and Steven (Carol) Jones, Joliet, Ill.; son-in-law, Tom O’Byrne, Albert Lea; 16 grandchildren and stepgrandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Roscoe (Rita) Helleck, Sterling, Alaska, Arthur (Arlene) Helleck, Blooming Prairie and Harold (Susan) Helleck, Rochester; sister-in-law, Leona Jordahl, Owatonna; and brother-in-law, Lloyd Jones, Las Vegas, Nev.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale; daughter, Janet O’Byrne; great-grandson, Makiao and sister, Thelma Hendriks.
Funeral services for Josephine H. Jones, age 85, of Albert Lea will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 6, 2009 at Ascension Lutheran Church. The Rev. Mark Boorsma will officiate. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 5th at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
