Edith R. LaBrash, 94
Edith R. LaBrash, 94, of Pine Island, Minn. died on July 5, 2009 at the Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island.
Edith Rose Metz was born on Oct. 6, 1914 in Elgin, Ill. to Alois and Mary (Litz) Metz. Edith attended Elgin High School. She married Earl E. LaBrash on June 10, 1932 in Crown Point, Ind. and the couple lived in Elgin, Ill., Rochester, Minn. and for a short time, Kasson, Minn., and later moved back to Rochester in 1942. Edith worked for Telex Corporation where they manufactured cables for IBM, and she retired in 1981. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, fishing, photography, traveling and she especially enjoyed being around babies.
Survivors include her three daughters, Mary Plenge, Zumbro Falls, Minn., Edythe (Charles) Hoppe, Rochester, Minn. and Lucy Rodgers, Austin; two sons, Earl (Julia) LaBrash, Millville, Minn. and Elmer LaBrash and his special friend, Tami, Rochester; 22 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; 44 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Delores Smith, Owatonna, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, Earl; parents; one great-granddaughter; one brother and two sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 16, 2009 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Rochester, with Father John Lasaba officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Calvary cemetery. Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
