The Southland baseball team saw it’s season come to an end in a 4-1 loss to Wabasha/Kellogg in the Section 1A title game in Mayo Field Wednesday.
The Rebels (17-10 overall) mustered just three hits and scored their only run on a double by Alan May.
“We didn’t have as many chances as Tuesday, but we did have some situations with guys on second or third and we couldn’t come through with the big hit,” Southland head coach Scott Retterath said. “But it was a good baseball game.”
W/K (22-6 overall) scored in the first on a double by Zach Wolfe and added a run on a wild pitch before scoring two more late in the game on a bases loaded single.
Mitch Nagele got the start and allowed five hits in five and one-thirds innings.
The Falcons will open Class ‘A’ state tournament play June 11.
