Raymond M. Jacobson, 94, of Leroy, died Thursday June 11, 2009 at the Adams Health Care Center.
Raymond M. Jacobson was born Aug. 9, 1914 in Bennington Township near Ostrander, Minn. to Andrew Jacobson and Mary (Northness) Jacobson. His early years were spent in the Ostrander area, later moving to the LeRoy area. He helped his parents farm for many years while painting bridges and working in the lime kiln for the Hickok family. He worked for the Regan Garage and Oliver at Charles City, Iowa and later bought his first corn sheller which he used for over 50 years. In 1952 he married Margaret J. Timmerman at VanBuren, Alaska. He was a member of the LeRoy Evangelical Lutheran Church and served on the cemetery board for seven years. He was always interested in mechanics, welding, electricity, motorcycles and cars.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret, LeRoy; daughter, Judy (Chan) Barksdale, Fort Collins, Colo. and a step-son Ronald (Dixie) Timmerman of Poplar Grove, Ill.; grandchildren, Michael Timmerman and Michele (Jim) Pearson and their children Ashlee and Emilee all of Poplar Grove, and Scott Timmerman and his children Taylor and Evan of Belvidere, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, James, Arthur, Alvin, Harry, Lloyd, and Russell and one sister, Ruth.
Funeral services for Raymond M. Jacobson will be held at 2 P.M. Monday June 15, 2009 at the LeRoy Lutheran Church in LeRoy with the Reverend Thomas Kolden officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hindt Funeral Home in LeRoy from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday June 14, 2009 and one hour prior to the service at the church.
