LETTER: Residents say thanks

Published 1:28 pm Saturday, June 27, 2009

The tornado that tore through our property on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 turned our lives upside down. We would like to say thank you to Rochelle R., Gloria S., Tina B., Bob and Sue., Jeremy, Tina F., Sandy and Joe B., Chasity H., Kenny M., Dale M., Rodney and Mom for calling the night or the day after to see if we were OK and how bad the damage was. We would also like to thank the Utility companies from Austin and the surrounding areas for working through out the night/week to get the power back on. Thank you to the law enforcement for checking on us and also restricting the public from gawking at the damage.

Thank you to the medical personnel who stopped by to check on us. Thank you to New Dimension for putting our new satellite dish up to replace the old one, which had been flattened like a pancake on our roof. Thank you to the Red Cross for dropping off water for us on Thursday, June 18 when we were cleaning out our driveway.

Thank you to Steve from Steve’s Pizza for giving us pizza on the house. Also thank you to Jeff Baldus and Culver’s for the custard you gave us on Saturday, June 20. Thank you, Rochelle, for taking time out of your day on Saturday, June 20 to make lunch for the cleanup crew. They said they appreciated what you did for them. Thank you, Mary B., for working for me on such short notice. A big thank you to everyone who helped and will continue to help with the massive clean up (Dewey, Matt, Darin, Rodney, Jeremy, Mark, Kelly, Teresa, Brett, Pam, Andrew, Becky, Steve, Tim, Branden, Mandy, Mike, Pete, Curtis, Chris and the girls).

It will take a while to get things looking nice again and with your help the goal will be achieved much sooner than expected. We are very thankful and appreciative for all or your help. It is good to know that even in this day and age you can count on family/friends to be there in a time of need and it makes that time a whole lot easier to bear. Once again, thank you to you all.
