LETTER: Project graduation makes a difference
Published 9:56 am Monday, June 29, 2009
Project Graduation, “Packer Pride, Shine in 09 — New World, New Adventures” was held June 5 at Austin High School following the AHS graduation ceremony. All graduating seniors from the Austin community were invited to attend.
This event has been held each year since 1989 to provide a safe, supervised and memorable celebration for AHS, Pacelli and home schooled graduates. Planning for this year’s Project Graduation began in January with a committee of 26 volunteers and culminated with the event, which included games, food, entertainment, prizes and gifts for the students. This year, 195 students attended the festivities.
We would like to thank the parents coordinated the event, the volunteers who supervised the night of the activity, Austin High School staff and administrators who provided assistance and support for Project Graduation, members of law enforcement who provided security, and individual members of the community, local businesses and service organizations who generously donated money and prizes. Project Graduation would not have taken place without the contributions of the community of time and donations. The members of the Class of 2009 had a great time and gave lots of positive feedback for this 20 year old tradition.
We thank all of you for your generous support in making this another successful Project Graduation.
