Kathryn A. Losey, 86
Kathryn Lasey, age 86, of Grand Meadow died on June 8, 2009 at St Marys Hospital in Rochester.
She was born July 15, 1922 to Olaf Skaran and Tillie Myhre Skaran in Grand Meadow Township, Mower County. She attended Grand Meadow High School where she was part of the undefeated girls basketball team graduating in 1940. Later that year she was united in marriage to Paul Losey Sr. in Spring Valley, Minn. Kathryn lived in Grand Meadow while her husband served in the Army and during the 1950s worked for the United States Post Office in Grand Meadow. In 1963 Paul and Kathryn moved to a farm west of Spring Valley and moved back to Grand Meadow in the late 80s.
She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and antiques and at one time had the largest Carnival Glass collection in the state.
Kathryn is survived by three children, Sharon Walterman, Hutto, Texas, Paul “Bob” (Colleen) Losey, Grand Meadow, Minn. and Vance Losey, Spring Valley, Minn.; two brothers, Arthur (Ruth) Skaran, Belview, Wash. and Norbert (Shirley) Skaren, Ostrander, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in November of 2007 and brother, Raymond.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday June 12, 2009 at the Grand Meadow Lutheran Church with the Reverend Ann Siverling officiating. Burial will take place at the Grand Meadow Cemetery on Saturday June 13, 2009. Friends may call at the Hindt Funeral Home in Grand Meadow from 5 to7 p.m. on Thursday June 11, 2009 and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
