Joyce W. “Jack” Francis, 80
Joyce “Jack” Wellington Francis, 80, of Austin died on May 29, 2009 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home in Austin.
He was born Sept. 13, 1928 in Round Prairie Township, Minn. to John and Catherine (Hanson) Francis. Jack served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was married to Barbara Ann Rosenow on Aug. 5, 1950 at St. John Lutheran Church in Grey Eagle, Minn.  They lived in northern Minnesota where he was the manager of the Little Sauk Coop/Creamery and served on the Little Sauk, Minn. School Board. Jack was a member and past commander of the Veteran of Foreign Wars and American Legion clubs. In 1966 they moved to Austin where he became a custodial engineer with the Austin Community College until his retirement. Jack enjoyed carpentry, camping and antique collecting.
 Joyce “Jack” is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Francis, Austin; sons, Michael D. (Carol) Francis, Waseca, Minn., Thomas  J. Francis, St. Peter, Minn.; grandson, Joel K. Francis, Waseca; granddaughter, Mariana C. Francis, Waseca, Minn.;  brothers, Darwin (Shirley)  Francis, St. Cloud, Minn., Merle (Arlene)  Francis, Brooklyn Park, Minn.; sister, Aleene (Gordon)  Abrahamson, Fond du Lac, Wis., Carol  Thompson, Long Prairie, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Delores Francis and brother-in-law, Ralph Thompson.
 Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at Grace Lutheran Church with the Reverend Jeffrey Forbes officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery in Austin with Austin Post #91 American Legion and Olaf B. Damm Post # 1216 Veterans of Foreign Wars in charge of military rites. Visitation will be at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and for one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. The organist will be Linda Anderson with soloist, Deborah Nordland. Casket Bearers will be Joel Francis, Mariana Francis, Greg Thompson, John Francis, Jeff Francis and Todd Abrahamson.
