Evelyn Schleicher, 87
Evelyn Schleicher, 87, of Austin, died on June 1, 2009 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home where she had resided since 2007.
The daughter of Michael and Mary (Soukup) Schultz, she was born in Austin on Feb. 21, 1922. She attended Austin High School and later met and married Roger Schleicher on June 30, 1939. Together for 46 years, they shared a joyous life, residing in Austin where they raised their two children, Shirley and Robert.
Evelyn and Roger shared the love of the outdoors. Evelyn could happily out fish any angler from the lakes and rivers of Minnesota to the waters of Canada and Lake Michigan. She also enjoyed ice fishing on frozen Mille Lacs Lake along with camping and traveling in their motor home together. Evelyn was also an active member of the Austin bowling leagues for many years. Later, she enjoyed the many fun bus tours with her bingo gal friends. Evelyn loved crocheting and cooking; her family will lovingly remember the many cherished crocheted slippers she made with great love and care, along with her baked holiday treats and jerky snacks for the hunters in her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Shirley (Larry) Hanson, Austin; son, Robert (Sandy) Schleicher, Hudson, Wis.; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two brothers.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 6, at 2 p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home with the Reverend Pam Aandahl Solberg officiating. There is no reviewal. Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
