They answered the call for help. The Salvation Army and other local organizations embarked in a community-wide relief effort following last week’s tornadoes.
As reported in today’s edition by Herald reporter Mike Rose, 24 Salvation Army volunteers put in more than 150 hours helping residents with aid from other agencies such as the Red Cross.
Last week, the Salvation Army served meals or snacks to roughly 2,000 people and spent $10,000 to provide service.
Organizations like the Salvation Army and the Red Cross are crucial in places like Austin because they provide services for the community when disaster strikes.
We appreciate the efforts of all of our relief organizations, and we encourage our residents to support them whenever possible, just as they support us.
