EDITORIAL: Dust off the lawn chairs this summer

It’s nice to go out to an elegant dinner from time to time or take in a summer blockbuster at the movie theater. Both options are nice forms of entertainment and contribute to the local economy.
Unfortunately, movie tickets for the entire family and expensive meals aren’t always affordable on a regular basis.
This summer, though, there’s an answer.
Beginning Wednesday at 7 p.m. the Austin Community Band kicks off its 17th season of “Concerts in the Park,” which includes a free 7 p.m. performance (weather permitting) at Bandshell Park through the Fourth of July Spamtown USA Freedom Fest. The free concerts are made possible through the City of Austin in cooperation with parks and recreation.
It’s nice to have choices, and Austin offers a free form of entertainment this summer to complement its variety of restaurants and its other activities as well.
