Dorothy A. Burnett, 71
Dorothy Ann Burnett passed away on June 28, 2009 at her home in Austin with loved ones at her side, after a long illness with cancer.
Dorothy was born Sept. 5, 1937 in Mitchell, S.D. to Edgar and Alvina Radford. They moved to Austin in 1952. Dorothy graduated from Austin High School in 1955. After high school she married Clifford Pratt and they had six children. They later divorced. Dorothy was married to Robert Burnett for a short time and later divorced. She then met her significant other, Harry Burton in 1978 and they were together until he passed away in 2006. Dorothy and Harry owned Righty’s Bar for several years in two different locations. They made a lot of friends throughout those years. Dorothy then became a home health aide and worked at the Cedars. After leaving the Cedars she took care of Ed Hammermeister until he passed away and she became ill. She loved people, and taking care of them was just her nature. Dorothy enjoyed flowers and working in her garden. Her home won Yard of the Month and she was so proud and honored to have been chosen. Dorothy was a beautician. She was also a model for Belles and Beaus bridal show every year at the Oak Park Mall, and the last time her granddaughter, Sadie, was also in the show with her. Dorothy’s three dogs: Abby, Ashley and Tina who passed away this year were a big part of her life. Spending time with her children and grandchildren was what Dorothy enjoyed the most. She was very much loved by her family and friends and will be sadly missed by all of us.
