Wilton “Willie” L. Meurer, 84
Wilton “Willie” Louis Meurer passed on to heaven to see his wife and his God on May 24, 2009.
He was born on Dec. 3, 1924 in Bird Island, Minn. Willie graduated from St. Mary’s High School, Bird Island, in 1942 and he attended Mankato Business College. Willie proudly served in the U. S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II. He was employed by the Austin Public Schools until retirement. Wilton was an active member of the American Legion, the VFW and Queen of Angels Parish in Austin. Willie was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins, his favorite player being Kirby Puckett. He attended the World Series with his family in 1987 cheering the Twins on to victory. He gave everything he had to taking care of his children and truly fought the good fight. With the strength of his faith, he raised his three children to adulthood by himself after his dear wife passed away back in 1965. Today, Wilton and Charlotte are finally back to together again.
He is survived by his brothers, Robert (Ruth) Meurer and Joseph (Audrey) Meurer; three children, Allen (Diane) Meurer, Dubuque, Iowa, Michael (Lori) Meurer, Winona, Minn. and Margaret (Tod) Bellrichard, Byron, Minn.; seven grandchildren, Mitchell, Brian, Brittany, Virginia, Stephanie, Christopher, and Isaiah. He will also be missed by many of his other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George P. Meurer and Clara C. Meurer and his long-missed wife, Charlotte Ann (Ritz) Meurer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12 noon, Saturday, May 30, 2009, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, St. Peter, Minn. with Father Phil Schotsko, officiating.
