William H. Myhre, 83
William Howard Myhre, 83, of Austin, died on May 24, 2009, at Oak Park Place in Albert  Lea, Minn. 
He was born Sept. 9, 1925, in Austin, the son of William and Marie (Bersauger) Myhre, Sr. He attended school in Austin, graduating from Austin High School in 1943. He served with the United States Navy during World War II. In 1953, he was united in marriage to Gloria Patton in Austin. The couple had three children, Greg, Laurie and Susan. They were later divorced. On June 4, 1966, he married Phyllis LaVonne (Sukow) Higbe in Austin and they had one child by this marriage. William worked for the Geo A. Hormel Company for many years until his retirement in 1985. He enjoyed music and played in many bands, including the Dixielanders. William was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, which he joined on Sept. 9, 1966. Phyllis died on Dec. 23, 1986. William continued to live in Austin, and recently moved to Oak Park Place in Albert Lea.
William is survived by three children, Greg (Julie) Myhre, Stillwater, Susan (Steve) Rutherford, Bloomington, Ill. and Cory (Becky) Myhre, Eden Prairie; three grandchildren; two step-sons, Rob Higbe, Rochester and Kevin Higbe, Austin; five step-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Phyllis; daughter, Laurie and step-daughter, Julie Williamson.
Friends and family may gather from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, May 30, 2009, at Bill’s home, located at 604 18th Street SE in Austin. Refreshments will be served. The family respectfully requests no flowers or memorials. Private interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. The Worlein Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
