Students to attend Flint Hills Festival

More than 800 Austin elementary and middle school students will experience arts activities ranging from a mechanical acrobatic performance to glowing puppetry to cultural musical acts during their visit to the 2009 Flint Hills International Children’s Festival in St. Paul May 26-29.  The schools and the dates of their festival visits include: Banfield Elementary School, May 28; Ellis Middle School, May 26; and Neveln Elementary School, May 29.

In addition to watching performances by artists from around the world, the Austin students will participate in interactive activities, such as art-making stations and the ARTwalk tour (viewing children’s artwork from around the state).

The students are among more than 14,000 Minnesota students who will visit the festival during May 26-29. The festival’s five main-stage shows — representing countries as diverse as Israel, India and Canada — include:

The indoor festival performances will take place at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts, with the outdoor activities taking place in Rice Park and Landmark Plaza.
