Stamping out hunger in Mower County

They did it again. Over this past weekend, with the help of Austin High School students, members of the National Association of Letter Carriers collected more than 8,000 pounds of non-perishable food from doorsteps.
The 16th annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive will benefit the Salvation Army food shelf in Austin.
Also joining the effort this year were the communities of Dexter, Rose Creek and Racine.
The Stamp Out Hunger food drive, the largest one-day local drive of the year, is a valiant campaign because it helps provide food for families that need it.
We applaud the generosity of the volunteers this past weekend, and we encourage our residents to contribute to the food shelf whenever possible.
