Richard D. Warfield, 75
Richard D. Warfield, 75, of Austin died on May 2, 2009 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Richard was born Jan. 8, 1934 in Austin to Stanley and Esther (Mau) Warfield. He graduated from Austin High School in 1952 and served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He attended Iowa State University from 1956 until he graduated in 1960. Richard was an accomplished basketball and baseball player. He played baseball throughout his time in high school, the Air Force, and at Iowa State University. Richard was recruited by the Boston Red Sox, but he chose to pursue a career in sales. Richard married Carol Knowlton on Aug. 30, 1958 at the First United Methodist church in Austin. He was a sales manager for ADT (American District Telegraph Co.). They’ve lived in Minneapolis, Cleveland, Milwaukee, Boston and prior to moving back to Austin, they had spent twelve years in New Jersey until his retirement in 1999. He was a former member of the Austin Country Club and the American Legion, Austin Post #91. Richard loved golfing, fishing, baseball, basketball, and watching stock market activity.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Warfield, Austin; sons, Mark (Lynn) Warfield, Long Valley, N.J., Richard (Barbara) Warfield, Hudson, Ohio; daughter, Michelle (John) Tomasulo, Hudson, Ohio; grandchildren, Katherine, Peter, Christopher, and Emily  Warfield, John, Angela, Sarah, Anna and Nicholas Tomasulo; sister, Linda (Charles) Barnes, Crystal River, Fla., nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary Chapel with the Reverend Levering Reynolds III officiating.  Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Austin. Visitation will be at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday for one hour before the service. The organist will be Neal Erickson with soloist Claudia Knowlton-Chike.
 Casket Bearers will be Mark Warfield, Richard Warfield, Christopher Warfield, Bill Knowlton, David Knowlton and Steven Knowlton.
