The Southland baseball team found it’s hitting stroke in a 7-0 win over Fillmore Central in Adams Thursday.

The Rebels (9-7 overall) came up with four extra base hits en route to a big win.

“We started out like we normally do, leaving a couple of guys on in the first inning. But we kind brought a different attitude to the game tonight and we finally started putting the ball in play,” Southland head coach Scott Retterath said.

Alan May was dominant on the mound for Southland, striking out nine while giving up just three hits and no walks in seven innings of work.

“Alan pitched well and the biggest thing was no walks,” Retterath said. “If they’re gonna get a hit, there’s nothing you can do about it. You don’t want to give up free passes, because they almost always turn into runs in high school baseball.”
