At the Minnesota State True Team Track Meet Saturday in Stillwater, the Austin boys track team finished third out of nine teams, the highest finish in school history, according to head coach Tony Einertson.
“They competed really well,” he said. “We went in there with pretty high expectations, and they lived up to those expectations.”
The Packers found themselves in fifth place with the 4X400 meter relay left to go. Austin placed first in the race and catapulted two spots into third place in the overall standings.
Junior Will Darling finished second in the 110 meter high hurdles, was part of the 4X200 meter relay that finished fourth and placed first in the 300 meter hurdles.
Senior Kyle Dammen finished second in the 800 meter run and was part of the winning 4X400 meter relay.
