Nominations sought for Rotary awards

Austin Rotary is accepting nominations for three awards: Educator of the Year, Community Service and Public Service in Government.
Nominations must be postmarked by May 29.
Anyone can nominate someone for the awards. Each award winner will receive an engraved plaque at a ceremony held during a Rotary luncheon meeting and a $200 check donated in their name to the local charitable cause of their choice. Family members are very welcome to attend the award meeting as guests of Rotary.
Eligible nominees live, work or volunteer in Mower County.
Those eligible for the Educator Award are teachers, administrators, counselors or other professionals currently employed by a private or public school in Mower County, preschool through grade 14.
Those eligible for the Government Award include anyone currently employed by a local, state or federal government office located in Mower County.
Those eligible for the Community Service award may be working in a paid or volunteer position and epitomize the motto “Service Above Self.” Nominees may be Rotarians.
The winners are chosen by a committee of Austin Rotary members. Criteria for evaluating the nominees are:
Completeness of the application
Demonstrates positive leadership in the community (can be the work community)
Motivates others to excellence (including colleagues, employees and students)
Demonstrates outstanding work and/or volunteer performance
Contributions made over a long period of time and membership in Rotary are not taken into account.
Additional information known about the nominee by the evaluation committee members may be taken into account
