Mabel B. Overby, 103
Mabel Benora Overby, 103, of Austin, died on May 11, 2009 at Sacred Heart Care Center in Austin.
 She was born Jan. 25, 1906 in Black Hammer, Minn. to Oscar and Thora (Sandholt) Hegge. Mabel married Carl Overby on Aug. 29, 1926 in Black Hammer. In her spare time, Mabel enjoyed planting flowers, making pies and fishing. Mable was especially good at making quilts, making 2 for each of her children and one for each of her grandchildren. Mabel was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and was the oldest living member of the Black Hammer Lutheran Church.
Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; daughter, Delores; son, Paul; sons-in-law, Earl and Orville; a grandson; a great-grandson; a great-granddaughter; parents; brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, May 15, 2009 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Todd Portinga, AiM officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery in Austin. Visitation will be at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and for one hour before the service at the church on Friday.
Mabel is survived by her children, Carstin and Wanda Overby, Austin, Marion Lingbeck, Austin, Jean Sullivan, Austin, Richard and Janet Overby, Austin, Laurel Carpenter, Austin, Charles Overby; 25 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren and 53 great-great-grandchildren.
