Loren C. Peters, 34
Loren Christian Peters, 34, of Austin, died on May 14, 2009 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, N.D.
He was born Jan. 23, 1975 in Davenport, Iowa to Larry and Jacqueline (Randolph) Peters. Loren graduated in 1993 from Assumption High School in Davenport. He was a Senior Design Engineer for Qwest Communications and a member of the Knight’s of Columbus and St. Augustine Catholic Church. Loren was on a fishing trip to Red Lake, Minn., when he was tragically killed in an automobile accident. He loved to fish, rain or shine, and would take anyone with him who wanted to go. Loren was also an avid woodworker and spent many hours building the crib and dresser for his 11 week old son, Hunter. We are all very proud of the work that he did. Loren also enjoyed RC Boat racing, hunting, music and spending time with his friends and family. Loren never knew a stranger. Everyone was his friend, and he would bend over backwards to help anyone out. He was a hero to many including his nieces, nephew, Goddaughter and friend’s children. He was an amazing, talented soul who loved life and could always make you smile. His own smile was contagious and his hugs were addicting. Loren married Tonia Heuertz on April 20, 2002 at St. Anthony’s Church in Davenport. Loren and Tonia enjoyed taking many vacations together all over the United States. In November of 2004, they relocated to Austin. On March 3, 2009, Loren and Tonia welcomed a beautiful baby boy into their family. Hunter was his Dad’s pride and joy. Loren was a wonderful father who couldn’t wait to teach “Catfish” how to play baseball. Loren’s legacy lives on in the multiple lives he saved through his organ donations. This shows what a loving, thoughtful, caring person Loren was.
Loren is survived by his wife, Tonia Lynn Peters, Austin; son, Hunter William Peters, Austin; Parents, Larry and Jacqueline Peters, Davenport; brother, Lee (Cindy) Peters, Davenport; niece, Emma Peters, Davenport; nephew, Zachary Peters, Davenport; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Verna and Gary Heuertz, Davenport; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Brian and Karla Heuertz, Davenport; niece, Sophie Heuertz, Davenport.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, May 22, 2009 at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church with Father Joe Fogal officiating. Visitation will be at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. There will be a celebration of Loren’s life in Davenport, to be scheduled at a later date. Memorials are preferred to St. Augustine Catholic Church at 405 4th Street NW, Austin, MN 55912 or the United Way of Mower County.
