Leo Schneider, 89
Leo Schneider, 89, of Adams died on May 16, 2009 at Adams Health Care Center in Adams.
He was born Aug. 31, 1919 in Adams, Minn., to Joseph and Thersia (Koenigs) Schneider on a farm South of Adams. He attended school in the Adams area and was married to Martha C. Rauen on Sept. 1, 1937 at St. Johns Catholic Church at Johnsburg, Minn. The Schneider’s lived on a farm southeast of Johnsburg until moving into Adams in 1970. Leo and Martha celebrated their 70th anniversary on Sept. 1, 2007. They moved to the Adams Health Care Center in Jan. of 2008. Leo was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Leo was also employed by Wilson’s and AMPI in Rochester. Leo enjoyed hunting pheasants, fishing and playing baseball and was a catcher with the Johnsburg baseball team. He was also an avid card player and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Leo is survived by his wife, Martha Catherine Schneider, Adams; daughter, Louise (Duane) Merten, Adams; son, Clifford (Monica) Schneider, St. Claire, Minn.; grandchildren, Jim Merten, Adams, Ron Merten, Adams, Thomas  Merten, Adams, Dan Schneider, Avondale, Ariz., Joan and Brad  Meyer, Dodge Center, Minn., Edward and Tami  Schneider, Byron, Minn., great-grandchildren, Haley  Merten,  Jessica and Adam Meyer, Justine  Schneider; brothers, William (Margaret) Schneider, Adams, Minn., Joseph (Audrey)  Schneider, Adams; sisters, Betty Fasbender, Adams, Anna Jax, Adams, Angela Winkels, Rochester, Minn.; brother-in-law, Marvin Simon, Waterloo, Iowa; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Jane Marie Merten; sister, Mildred Simon; brother and sister-in-law Paul and Dorothy Schneider; brothers-in-law, Gilbert Fasbender, Joe Jax and Sylvan Winkels.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father James Seitz Officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Adams. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Adams Funeral Home, where visitation will be  Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Casket Bearers will be, Ron Merten, Carol Murphy, Ray Koenigs, David Fasbender, John Schneider and Joe Winkels.
