Kenneth E. Rolfson, 88
Kenneth Edward Rolfson, age 88, died Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Prairie Manor Care Center, in Blooming Prairie, Minn.
Ken was born May 16, 1920 in Red Rock Township to Earl and Angela (Guiney) Rolfson.
He was married August 30, 1941 to Ordella Shaw at Queen of Angels Church in Austin.
He is survived by his wife Ordella, a son Jerome (Pam Bulger) Rolfson, Beaver Falls, NY and a daughter Jeanne at home.  Granddaughter, Lori Lyn (Chris) Peterson. Grandson Kevin Darcy.  Two great grandchildren,Heather Peterson and Cody Darcy. One great great granddaugher, Samantha Peterson.  Two brothers, Dean and Duane Rolfson of Austin. A sspecial niece Kathy (Lawrence) Pieper.  A Godson, Jeremy Pieper and niece Angela Kasel.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents and a sister.
Ken worked for the US Postal Service as a clerk and Postmaster in Lansing, Minn.
He served in the US Army in World War II and in the US Army active reserve for 35 years..  He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, serving as the secretary for nine years.  A member of the American Legion for fifty years, the Knights of Columbus, AARP and the Kiwanis.  He also initiated the “55 Alive Program” and the Tax Aide Program, which he coordinated for 25 years. He served as a conservator, served on the Semcac Board for many years and the Triad Program.  Ken, along with his wife Ordella, were honored as King and Queen of Cedar River Days in 1992. He enjoyed sports and camping with his family.  He as also an active member of Queen of Angels Church.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Monday, May 4, 2009 at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father Dale Tupper officiating.  There will be a 6:30 p.m. prayer service on Sunday evening at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4 – 7 p.m. on Sunday and at the church one hour before the service on Monday.  Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post #91.
His casket bearers will be Jeremy Pieper, Lawrence Pieper, Larry Sparks, Kevin Darcy, Cody Darcy and Donald Barnes.
The family prefers memorials to cancer.
