Clyde Ellis

Clyde M. Ellis, 89, of Ostrander and formerly of Austin, died on May 7, 2009 at the Ostrander Nursing Home.
Clyde was born June 2, 1919 in Centerville, Iowa to Clarence and Nellie Ellis. His family eventually settled in Austin. Clyde married Louise Gorman and enrolled in the National Guard. He served with the Army overseas during World War II. Clyde was a retired employee of Hormel Foods and he was a lifelong farmer.
Survivors include his son, Larry (Mary) Ellis, Emerson, Neb.; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters; nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Louise on Jan. 20, 2001; and his son, Gary.
Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2009 at Mayer Funeral Home with the Reverend Dennis Tamke officiating. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday in Grandview Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 91.
