The Civil War Re-enactment will return this year to 2009 Dairy Days in Adams June 13 and 14 in Adams City Park.

“We will have about 30-40 people on both the Union and Confederate sides,” organizer Bill Feutchtenberger said.

“There will be plenty of opportunities for the public to experience life as it was back in the Civil War days.”

On Saturday, June 13, the camp opens to the public at 9 a.m. There will be a drill at 10 a.m. followed by a fashion show and tea at 11:30 a.m.

New this year will be a Lincoln-Douglas debate at noon Saturday.

“There will be a battle from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the southern section of the park,” he said. “Afterwards, the popular medical unit will be treating soldiers and using the techniques that were common in treating patients back in the 1860s. This is always interesting.”

A Civil War rummage sale will be held at 4 p.m. June 13.

At 8 p.m. there will be a candlelight tour of the camp with a talent show followed by a night fire at 9:30 p.m. On Sunday, June 14, the camp again opens 9 a.m.

A Civil War-era church service will be held 10 a.m.

The re-enactors will take part in the 2009 Dairy Days parade at 1 p.m. and a battle will be held 2:30 p.m. Again, the medical unit will be open after the battle June 14.

“This is a great learning experience for all, and everything is free to the public,” the organizer said.
