A winter storm watch is in effect for late Saturday night through late Sunday night, the National Weather Service announced Friday.

The storm watch includes Mower, Dodge, Olmsted, Wabasha, Winona, Fillmore and Houston counties.

Rain or a rain/snow mixture will change to all snow Saturday night. The snow will then continue through Sunday and could be heavy at times. Accumulations of six inches or more will be possible before the snow ends. Some blowing and drifting of the snow could occur Sunday into Sunday night as north winds increase on the back side of the storm.

According to the National Weather Service, there is still some uncertainty of the track of the storm system. Any shift in the track will also change the location where the heaviest snow will fall.
