Austin is one of 12 Minnesota cities where a “Tax Day Tea Party” will be held Wednesday.
The events are part of a nationwide event taking place on the federal income tax filing date Wednesday.
Concerned citizens, grassroots groups and free market activists will also protest Wednesday at the Minnesota state capitol in St. Paul.
Other confirmed Tax Day Tea Party events will take place at Bemidji, Brainerd, Duluth, Fairmont, Mankato, Milaca, North Branch, Owatonna, Rochester and St. Cloud.
Brian and Cindy Stevens are the local Tax Day Tea Party coordinators in Austin.
They are asking others to join them at noon Wednesday on the west Mower County Courthouse sidewalk.
The local sponsors welcome participants to bring signs to register their feelings.
Among the sponsoring organizations are the Taxpayers League of Minnesota and Constitution Party of Minnesota.
