The Southland golfers had two positives Tuesday at the Cedar River Country Club.

Their boys beat Chatfield 198-207 and they started up their girls team, which lost 246-299.

“We had good news today and we had very good news today,” Southland head coach Tim Brennan said. “The boys evened our Three Rivers Conference record at 1-1, which is good news. The girls from Southland played their first varsity match in a number of years, which is very good news.”

For the boys, Matt Brietbarth was meet medalist with a score of 43.
