Ron McClain, 72
Ron McClain, age 72, a longtime resident of Colorado Springs, passed away on April 24, 2009 at his home. Ron enjoyed a successful career in music and real estate.
Ron was born in Rae, Mo. on Nov. 20, 1936 to Ross and Dolly (Griggs) McClain. He graduated from High School in Austin, Minnesota in 1954. He served three years in the United States Army from 1955 to 1958 and was stationed in Germany. He married Bonnie Mae Loew on June 25, 1958 at St. Colombanus Catholic Church in Blooming Prairie, Minn. Julie, their only daughter, was born May 4, 1960. The family moved to Colorado Springs in June of 1962. In 1975 Ron and wife, Bonnie, moved to the Canon City area where they owned and operated Buckskin Joe, along with the KOA campground and Fun Country. In 1982 they purchased their dream Colorado ranch in Texas Creek Colorado, which they named Stage Coach Ranch. In 2003 they returned to Colorado Springs where they resided until his death. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June of 2008. Ron was a devoted Catholic and a member Corpus Christi Parish and the Knights of Columbus. Ron attended daily mass until his health declined and then watched mass daily on EWTN. He had a great love for the blessed Mother, Mary and the Holy Rosary.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; daughter, Julie (Dan) Wilde; grandchildren, Bonnie (Jason) San Souci, Mary Wilde, Ross Wilde, Michael Wilde and Paul Wilde; great-grandchildren, Caitlyn Wilde and Eric San Souci; brothers, Stanley (Judy) McClain, Bruce McClain, Mike (Abby) McClain; sister, Annett (Mike) Gutman; and brothers- and sisters-in-law, Gertrude Kloberdanz, Sylvia Plunkett, Al Michaelson, Marvin Thompson, Marlys Loew, Jerome (Bernice) Loew, Mary Ann (Darrell) Johnson, William (Nancy) Loew, Bernard (Clarice) Loew, Carolyn (James) Stellick, Gloria (Merle) Peterson, Paul (Judy) Loew, and Henry (Lorraine) Loew, along with numerous nieces and nephews and many, many family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Johnie McClain; along with father and mother-in-law, Matt and Emogene Loew; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Delbert Loew, Norma Thompson, Frank Plunkett, Margie Michaelson, and Joseph Kloberdanz.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Visitation will continue Wednesday from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. The Holy Rosary will be said at 10 a.m. at the church followed by the Mass of Catholic Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow at Evergreen Cemetery and a reception will then follow at Corpus Christi fellowship hall.
