The Southland baseball team overcame some defensive struggles to beat Plainview/Elgin/Millville 6-3 in Adams Thursday.

The Rebels had five errors on the night, but scored four times in the bottom of the second to take the lead for good.

“We still have some young kids playing some new positions out there,” Southland head coach Scott Retterath said. “The more games they play, the better they should get.”

Alan May got the win on the mound in his first start as he allowed four hits, four walks, and no earned runs in seven innings, while striking out four.

“In a few innings he got behind early in the count and struggled to get back,” Retterath said. “But for the most part he kept the ball down and pitched pretty well.”
