Marilyn A. Brandeland, 83
Marilyn Alta Brandeland, 83, of Austin, died at Austin Medical Center on April 12, 2009. 
She was born May 5, 1925 to Hilmar and Emma (Newhouse) Quinnell in Caledonia, Minn. She graduated from Spring Grove High School in 1943 and attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa where she earned her certificate. She taught elementary school in Iowa until her marriage to Harold Brandeland on July 11, 1948 in Spring Grove. They moved to Austin in 1949. A member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Marilyn liked to play the piano, read and spend time with her family. She liked pets, especially her cat.
Survivors include one daughter, Pam Jacobson, Austin; two sons, Bruce (Kathy) Brandeland, Plano, Texas and Gary Brandeland, Elk River; seven grandchildren, Shelby, Jessica, Kjell, Kelsey, Lindsey and Megan; five great-grandchildren; twin brother, Mervin Quinnell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister in infancy and a brother.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. Interment is at Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and at the church one hour prior to the service. Worlein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family prefers memorials to Mower County Humane Society.
