Kurt A. Graner, 29
Kurt A. Graner, 29, of Bloomington, formerly of rural Kellogg, died of melanoma on April 3, 2009 at St. Elizabeth’s Health Care Center in Wabasha.
He was born May 1, 1979 in Rochester, the son of Dean and Rhonda (Rud) Graner. He graduated from Wabasha-Kellogg High School in 1997 where he was very active in the theater and fine arts. He then attended two years of college at the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire. He was working as the night manager of the IHOP restaurant at the mall of America until he had to retire because of his failing health.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Conception, rural Kellogg. His interests included the theater, playing softball, Star Trek and the Minnesota Twins. His greatest pleasure was his family.
Kurt is survived by his parents, Dean and Rhonda Graner, Kellogg, Minn.; siblings, Brad (Darcey) Graner, Nelson, Wis., Patty (Greg) Burton, St. Charles, Minn., Jackie (Shawn) Adams, Plainview, Minn., Ernie Graner, Kellogg, Minn., Holly Graner, Inver Grove Heights, Minn., Pete Graner, Alma, Wis., Tim Graner, Plainview, Minn., Cpl. Christopher Graner, US Marine Corps, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; paternal grandmother, Clara Graner, Wabasha, Minn.; two nieces; seven nephews; cousins and special family friend, Linda Metzler Lellmen, Silver Springs, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Ralph Graner; maternal grandparents, Junior and Ione Rud; and nephew, Zach Graner.
A funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Conception, rural Kellogg, with the Reverends Robert Meyer, Thien Nguyen and Glenn Frerichs officiating. Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery at Conception.
Casket bearers will be Brad, Ernie, Pete, Tim and Chris Graner and Richard Graner. Friends may call at the Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. where there will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Friends may also call at the church on Wednesday one hour before the service.
