Girl Scouts go geocaching

Girl Scout Troop 40044 went geocaching Saturday, April 11. Geocaching is a treasure-hunting game played worldwide using GPS devices. All you need is a handheld GPS, Internet access and a desire to look around outdoors.

Geocaching Web sites list caches by latitude and longitude, and give hints to the location of caches. A cache is some sort of waterproof container, hidden in an outdoor location, on public land. More than 30 caches are hidden in and around Austin, and thousands more throughout Minnesota.

The troop found seven caches April 11.
