The 6th Annual Evening in Red fundraiser March 28 raised $38,000 for the Mower County Chapter of the American Red Cross.

More than 140 guests attended the event at the Austin Country Club, which included a live auction, music and drawing for a live tree with $1,000 in its branches.

Elaine Hansen, executive director of the chapter, said, “The funds raised through this awesome event will be used to serve the residents of Mower County. We truly appreciate the support of the Mower County community to provide for the relief of disaster victims, to aid military families in emergency situations, to donate the gift of life — blood — and for their commitment to live safer lives by taking CPR and first aid lessons or by supporting this life saving training through scholarships.”
