Alvin L. Anderson, 84
Alvin Anderson, 84, of Rochester, died Monday April 27, 2009 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester.
Alvin Leroy Anderson was born March 2, 1925 in Elington Township, Dodge County. Raised in Dodge County, he was a graduate of the West Concord public schools. On Oct. 4, 1952, at Hegre Lutheran Church near West Concord, he married Stella Broin. Employed by Hormel Foods in Austin for 33 years, he also farmed near Kenyon and Dodge Center. He has resided in Rochester the past 10 years, and wintered in Mesa, Ariz. for the past 20 years.
He was a member of Saint John’s Lutheran Church in Kasson. He enjoyed working in stain-glassed art and was a handyman. He also enjoyed golfing and being outdoors.
Andy is survived by his wife, Stella Anderson, Rochester; son, Randy Anderson, Northfield, Minn.; sister, Marcella (Larry) Sowieja, Dodge Center.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Anderson; brother, Gordon Anderson.
A memorial service for Alvin L. “Andy” Anderson will be held Friday May 1, at 10:30 a.m. at Saint John’s Lutheran Church in Kasson. The Reverend Marie Anderson will officiate. Enichement, at a later date, will occur at Oakwood Cemetery in Austin. Visitation, with no reviewal, will be one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
If so desired, memorials may be directed to Seasons Hospice or to Saint John’s Lutheran Church. Mahn Family Funeral Home-Rochester Chapel is handling arrangements.
