Three juveniles have given statements and admitted to a fire that consumed a garage late Friday night.

The juvenile boys, ages 12, 12 and 14, were questioned Tuesday after an anonymous phone call came into the Austin Police Department Monday night identifying two of the three juveniles.

The fire took place at 1003 12th Ave. S.W. around 9:40 p.m. Friday. It was determined the fire started in another small shed attached to the garage on the south side containing chairs.

According to the Austin Police Department, a chair in the shed seems to be the source of the fire. There was no sign of an accelerant.

Though the boys admitted to starting the fire, a reason was not given and police are only releasing that this was not a random act.

The case has been forwarded on to the county attorney’s office to determine further action against the boys.
