Shirley L. Tucker, 86
Shirley Levanda Tucker, 86, of Austin, died at Adams Healthcare Center on March 16, 2009. 
She was born Aug. 8, 1922 to Ole and Sophie (Nelson) Larson in Mower County. She graduated from Adams High School in 1940, went on to take teacher’s training and taught in a one room country school. She married Leonard Tucker on June 28, 1942 in Los Angeles, Calif., where she worked in an aircraft factory. In 1947, Shirley and Leonard returned to the Midwest, making their home in Austin where they raised two sons. Shirley was employed by Geo. A. Hormel & Co. Leonard passed away December 4, 1986. Shirley loved the outdoors, spending time in nature, hunting and fishing. She also enjoyed traveling, bowling, late night card games with her siblings, reading and outings. She always had room on her lap and a book to share with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Golden Age Club, Eagles and Grace Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two sons, Lael (Carma) Tucker, Garfield, Neil Tucker, Austin; two grandchildren, Amy (Cory) Lerum and Jamie (Ryan) Norton, Austin; five great-grandchildren, Hunter and Logan Lerum, Riley, Molly and Reese Norton; two brothers, Curtis (Daisy) Larson, Austin; Loris (Dorothy) Larson, Austin; two sisters, Ardis Herr, Austin, Verla (Douglas) Thompson, Lansing; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard in 1986; her parents and three brothers, Nomer, Ober and Otto Larson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, March 20, 2009 at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Jeff Forbes officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and at the church one hour prior to the service.
