Nathan E. Wiese, 89
Nathan Edward Wiese, 89, of Austin, died on March 2, 2009 at Austin Medical Center, Austin.
Nate was born Sept. 19, 1919, in Carroll, Iowa to Edward and Anna (Siepker) Wiese. The family moved to the Austin area where he graduated from Austin High School. On Oct. 15, 1944, Nathan married Margaret Wackwitz of Welcome at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. The couple lived in Austin and later moved to their farm near Brownsdale. Nate taught flying lessons to student pilots in the late 30’s early 40’s. During his lifetime, he owned the filling station near Queen of Angels Church, operated a bulk fuel business, farmed and raised purebred polled Hereford cattle. In 2006, Nathan and Margaret moved to Austin. Nathan was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church, the Elks Club and the Austin Country Club. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards and vegetable gardening. He was a master at telling jokes and sharing interesting detailed stories of his experiences as well as was a talented host of friends and family. 
Survivors include his wife, Margaret, Austin; daughter, Julie, Austin; daughter-in-law, Lisa, Owatonna; two sisters, Bernice Mahnke, San Mateo, Calif. and Dolores (Howard) Nielsen, Jackson and sister-in-law, Marie Wiese, Austin. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Mark; and his brother, Keith a.k.a. Butch.
 A memorial mass will be celebrated at Queen of Angels Catholic Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, with visitation at the church one hour prior to the service. The family will also greet friends at a luncheon following the service. Father Dale Tupper is officiating. Arrangements are being made by Mayer Funeral Home, Austin.
The family extends their gratitude to Mark and DeAnna Mandler, Mike and Maureen Bibus, Dr. Julie Olson and the Austin Medical Center nursing staff for all their special care and assistance.
