Mildred Hays

Mildred Matilda Hays, age 91 of Rochester, Minn. died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009 at Madonna Meadow in Rochester.
Mildred was born March 24, 1917 in Freeborn County, Minn. to William and Isabel (Guy) Taylor.
Mildred graduated from Austin High School. On April 19, 1935 she married William Buford Hays in Hampton, Iowa.  Mildred worked as a waitress in various Austin businesses for several years before becoming a homemaker. 
Mildred was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and the Royal Neighbors.  In her spare time, Mildred was an avid card player; she also enjoyed fishing, dancing, canning and entertaining family and friends.  Mildred and William enjoyed spending summers at their cabin on Leech Lake. William died Oct. 11, 1997.
Mildred is survived by her daughter-in-law:  Joyce Hays, Rochester; grandsons: John Hays, Austin; Dean Hays, Rochester; Kevin Hays, Rochester; granddaughter: Julie (Bruce) Newell, Rochester,; great grandchildren: Amanda, Travis, Nicole, Jerimiah, and Hillary; seven great great grandchildren; sister: Florence Terry, Rochester; nieces and nephews.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; son, Thomas; son, Kenneth; brother Robert; sister, Clara Nielsen; and twin sister, Mabel Kolpin.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 2, 2009 at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Michael Olmsted Officiating.  Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery in Austin.  Visitation will be at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Monday for one hour before the service.
