Loraine J. Melder, 87
Loraine Julia Melder, 87, died on March 19, 2009, at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield, Minn.
Loraine Julia Varney was born March 12, 1922, the daughter of  George and Carrye (Bulson) Varney in Mower County, Minn. She was married to Virgil Melder on Nov. 15, 1942, in Yuma, Ariz. Virgil and Loraine lived in San Diego, Calif. They moved to DeRidder, La., and later to Brownsdale, Minn. She enjoyed working puzzles, needle work, reading and walking. 
Loraine is survived by one daughter, Roxann (Tom) Winkels, Oshkosh, Wis.; three sons, Gary (Elaine) Melder, Owatonna, Minn., Sid (Pat) Melder, Dodge Center, Minn., Roger (Deborah) Melder, Rochester, Minn.; son-in-law, Keith Dunford, Rochester, Minn.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Virgil in 2000; brother, Orville Varney; sister, Peg Hessenius and daughter, Gloria Dunford.
The funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2009, at the First Baptist Church in Brownsdale, MN with Reverend Kraig Elliott and Reverend Jerry Harris Co-officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Brownsdale. Visitation will be from 5 to7 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Brownsdale and one hour before the service at the church on Sunday. The family prefers memorials to the First Baptist Church in Brownsdale and Field Crest Care Center.
