It’s been quite a season for the Austin High School boys basketball team. With an overall record of 18-7. the No. 3 Packers travel to the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester Saturday for a 2:45 p.m. tipoff against No. 2 St. Thomas Academy as the Section 1AAA playoffs continue.

Austin has been led by Connor Gunderson’s 17.8 points per game, and the team is loaded with other players who step up as well.

“These kids have worked extremely hard,” said Austin head coach Kris Fadness. “It’s nice to see them get rewarded for their hard work.”

The Austin boys basketball team is a class act all the way around. In addition to their athletic abilities, the squad was named section team academic champion last year, and it may very well do it again this year.

“If we don’t win it, it will be close,” Fadness said.

We are proud to support all of our local teams and will be rooting for the Packers this Saturday.
