Kathy VanRiper

Kathy K. VanRiper, 59, died Wednesday evening at her home in Albert Lea.
Kathy was born Jan. 28, 1950, in Austin, the daughter of Robert and Patricia (Thomas) Stockdale. She was a graduate of Austin High School. On March 12, 1968, she was united in marriage to Robert VanRiper in Mason City, Iowa.
Kathy had been a resident of Albert Lea since 1969 and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She had been employed by Spurgeons Department Store and was a dietician at the Good Samaritan Center. She also worked at the Eastside Laundry and was a day care provider.
Kathy enjoyed sewing, crafts, macramé, camping and fishing. Her family was her life and she loved cooking for them and listening to Elvis music.
Kathy is survived by her husband Robert of Albert Lea; children: Holly VanRiper of Glenville and Todd and his wife Kristina VanRiper of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Donavon Martinson, Ashley, Zachary and Skylar Melom, Samantha, Kailey and Ryley VanRiper; brother, Steven Stockdale of Las Vegas; sister, Debra (Craig) Prihoda of Albert Lea; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In-laws include: Sandy Vanwilgen of Gilbert, Ariz.,  Janice (Sonny) Vanwilgen of Maple Island, Jim VanRiper of Geneva, Cheryl (Ray) McManaman of Fort Lupton, Colo., Becky (Charles) Phagan of Greeley, Colo., Alan VanRiper of Albert Lea, Kenny R. VanRiper of Albert Lea, and Cynthia VanRiper of Albert Lea; and father-in-law, Kenny W. VanRiper of Albert Lea.
She was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law, Wilda VanRiper; brother-in-law, Gene Vanwilgen; and nephew, Philip.
Funeral services for Kathy K. VanRiper of Albert Lea will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Albert Lea. The Rev. Clayton Balsley will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery.
