Joe P. Schneider, Jr., 78, of Tellico Village Community died peacefully at his home from a short bout with cancer on March 15, 2009.
Joe retired from the Hormel Food Corporation after 42 years of service. He was a scratch golfer, a life master bridge player and an avid hunter and fisherman. Joe and good friend, Mike Ruppert established and operated the Smoky Mountain Sports Club for several years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Harriet; three children, Marc, Christine and Joe III; four grandchildren; step-children, Diana Canacaris and Jimmy Davis; step-granddaughter, Lauran Canacaris; brother, Charles (Frieda); sister, Anne Maday (Andy) and two nieces.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held on Saturday, March 28, at 11 a. m. at the Tellico Village Community Church with the Reverend Martin Singley officiating. A reception will follow in the Christian Life Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your charity of choice.
