Gertrude M. Keilen, 94
Gertrude Mary Keilen, 94, of Austin, died Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Prairie Manor in Blooming Prairie.
Gert was born Aug. 11, 1914 in Wheatland Township, Minnesota to Albert and Gertrude (Demann) Smisek. On Oct. 13, 1936 she was united in marriage to Christian Keilen at Hazelwood, Minnesota. The couple lived in Austin and the Rice County area. They enjoyed summering at Lake Mazaska in Faribault.  Gert enjoyed fishing, gambling and her grandchildren. She worked at Younkers, JC Penney, Land O’Lakes and as a waitress.
Survivors include two children, Gerald (Rozette) Keilen, Waseca, Annette (Steven) Tapp, Austin; six grandchildren; one step-grandchild; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Leonard (Ida) Smisek, Austin, Betty (William) DuChene, Faribault, Rosemarie Scott, Faribault.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Christian on Nov. 20, 1989; son, Ronald; granddaughter, Julie Anne.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Joe Fogal officiating. There will be a 9:30 a.m. CCW rosary on Wednesday at the church where friends may call one hour before the service. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
The honorary casket bearers will be Jeff Sampson, Todd Breck, Christopher Wisemore, Todd Peters and David Bracken. The casket bearers will be Jodi Sampson, Kelly Breck, Stacy Wisemore, Christine Peters, Sherry Bracken and Justin Ellingson. Arrangements by Mayer Funeral Home.
